Privacy policy

Effective October 4, 2026

Quill Clip turns public short-form video links into text transcripts. It is operated by Quill Hound ("we"). There are no accounts, no ads, and we do not sell or share personal data.

What we process

• Video links you submit. We use the link to fetch that public video's page, captions and, when there are no captions, its audio.
• Transcripts. The transcript, video caption, creator handle and thumbnail link are cached for up to 30 days, keyed by the video, so the next request for the same video is instant. The cache is not linked to you.
• A random device ID and your IP address. The app creates a random ID on your device. We use it and your IP address only to enforce daily usage limits. These counters expire after 48 hours.
• Standard server logs (time, path, errors) kept by our hosting provider for a short period to keep the service running.

What stays on your device

Your recent transcripts, your preferred prompt and the device ID are stored in your browser or the app's storage. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes them.

Sending a transcript to an AI

When you tap Ask Claude, Ask ChatGPT or Share, the transcript and your chosen instructions are passed to that app or website. What happens next is governed by that provider's own privacy policy. Quill Clip does not send anything to them unless you tap.

Service providers

• Cloudflare hosts Quill Clip, stores the cache and runs the speech-to-text model.
• TikTok serves the public video pages, captions and audio we fetch on your request.

Children

Quill Clip is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

You can clear your history in the app at any time. Because we have no accounts, we cannot tie cached transcripts to you. If you want a specific cached transcript removed, email us the video link.
